Love is such a special gift. While is seems like love is all around us, it really is something to be cherished when you find it in your own life. When we see a good Nicholas Sparks movie we create these expectations of what love should look like and to some extent...there's no reason why we shouldn't be kissing in the rain, and going on romantic rowboat adventures. When planning a wedding, we can sometimes lose sight of what truly matters; getting to spend the rest of your life with your best friend. Yay!
We can all admit that the process of planning a wedding can be a little bit stressful at times. When you feel like you need a break from it all, check out these affordable date ideas that will leave you as in love as ever!
Our first date idea is to get outside! Here in Florida, we get blessed with some pretty sweet fall and spring weather. Take advantage of your area's wonderful weather forecasts and plan a soul soothing day outdoors with your person. Pickup some of your favorite snacks and a bottle of wine from the market (farmer's markets always have DELICIOUS locally made goodies) and pack them up in an insulated cooler or bag. Target has some fabulous cooler bags in their dollar section. Along with that you'll, just need: a picnic blanket, wine glasses, and a clear mind!
When choosing a location, try to find a park with plenty of shade for your picnic and perhaps some activities to keep your date lasting a little bit longer. A pre lunch hike is a great opportunity to sightsee and hold hands with your honey. Certainly, if you can find a park that will allow you to have a Notebook moment in a rowboat then by all means...live all of our dreams for us!
Another great date day/night activity is to take a class together! I know, this seems like it could be not so cost efficient but take advantage of your area's local advertisements for dance classes, cooking classes, or even painting! We can even continue the movie theme and go for a pottery class/"Ghost" moment! Groupon is also extremely helpful in finding the best deals on classes. There's a lot to be said for learning a new craft together. It's almost like a mini therapy session. You'll often have an instructor who's guiding you; then you and your partner have to work as a team to create the perfect dish, dance, or art. It will get you both back on the same level and make you realize each other's strengths and weaknesses. Teamwork makes the dreamwork people!
Our last and possibly favorite date idea is a perfect night in! We associate a lot of stress with being home sometimes. Especially when dealing with a wedding. Often times you get home from work and then you have your other part-time job of being a bride. We think this is a great opportunity to plan a perfect night in to make your home your favorite place again. We feel that dimming some lights, putting candles around the house, and possibly even rearranging some furniture can totally transform your place from a home to a romantic couple's retreat.
Next, order your favorite takeout! This shouldn't be a night of sweating over the stove and doing dishes. A few dishes from the best restaurant in town and maybe even some treats from your local bakery/candy store might be just what you need to wind down. Now lets pick a movie! Men can be picky. You'll want to choose something that catches their interest while keeping in the theme of love. It's like feeding kids their vegetables; you have to hide it under a pile of cheese sauce.
End the night with a glass of dessert wine or a nightcap cocktail and giggle about all of the things you love about your home. Maybe even dream up all of the things you can't wait to transform your home into over time!
We think these dreamy dates are the perfect way to stay connected during a stressful time while staying in your wedding budget. It's important to continue to bond throughout your relationship but especially during the times when we tend to get distracted. Enjoy your person and live in love!
